ABF seeks to maintain and pass on a working knowledge of the multitude of services provided in the city of Portland. It is an honor to advise you on your options when it comes to better ways to educate yourself and your family, as well as to receive support from private and government good Samaritans who will genuinely seek to help you.
ABF has a thriving ministry in the community in and outside of its walls. We are pleased to open some of the events and services in our ministry to you when they make sense to your situation. They can be as diverse as a reduced cost booth, to sell your homemade items in our Main St. Art & Craft Fair, to free dance classes for children, to free seminars on the benefits of breastfeeding. The opportunities are always changing and endless with the needs of our community and the S.M.I.L.E. program can keep you informed and connected.
S.M.I.L.E. is a part of Aletheia Bible Fellowship. As a ministry of a local church, our leadership includes Pastor’s who have a day to day experience with navigating difficult life choices. Pastor’s at ABF are always willing to listen to lend their particular spiritual service to those in need, even if it isn’t Sunday. Sometimes, all you need is someone to listen and speak to you honestly. Though our Pastors are not Psychiatrists, they are willing to be available to those who ask. They are open to starting a dialogue with you about any subject you might wish if you need advice.
S.M.I.L.E. is directly funded by one of ABF’s other programs, Storge. Storge is a small storefront whose inventory comes mostly from donations. Through our voucher program, this inventory can be matched to the needs of those in the S.M.I.L.E. program. Each family can receive vouchers appropriate to their needs which will allow them to shop Storge for items and clothing that are gently used and fit their specific situation. This voucher program is limited to stock on hand and subject to an intake interview with our intake coordinator. However, just like the program, the vouchers are free to those who qualify.
